The Swedish Transport Administration is currently reviewing the speed limits on E4 in southern Sweden. According to the proposal, they want to change the speed of the E4 from 110 km / h to 120 km / h between Markaryd and Torsvik south of Jönköping. On the other hand, between the Råslätt traffic station and the Huskvarna south traffic, the Swedish Transport Administration wants to reduce the speed from 90 to 80 kilometers per hour.

flexible speeds

The Jönköping County region is basically positive for the speed reduction. But at the same time, they think that there are times a day when there is less traffic as the speed may well be 90 km / h. There are also times in the day when rush hour traffic is intense and then the speed should be even lower than 80 km / h. They have therefore proposed a flexible speed limitation.

No funding

The Swedish Transport Administration now writes that there are gains with intelligent transport systems (ITS) and that they are open for it to be relevant in the future. But they also say that such a solution is costly and there is currently no funding for the introduction of such a solution. A final decision is expected in the autumn.

In the clip, Marcus Eskdahl (S), chairman of the committee for traffic, infrastructure and environmental issues, explains why he wants to see varied speed through Jönköping.
