The Swiss health authorities issued a list of countries that pose a high risk of infection with the emerging corona virus, which includes 29 countries, particularly the United States, Russia and Brazil, in addition to 5 other Arab countries, while excluding those from the UAE from quarantine measures.

From July 6, travelers from Switzerland to these countries must be quarantined for ten days.

The Federal Public Health Office released the list, on Thursday, as part of new measures taken by the Swiss authorities to prevent a second wave of the epidemic. Incidence rates increased last week, as it sometimes rose to more than 100 infections a day.

The authorities attribute this rise in the number of infections in part to the transmission of infection from people coming from abroad or from the Swiss who travel to high-risk countries, and bring the virus with them when they return.

The list of high-risk countries also includes Serbia and Kosovo because large numbers of migrants from these countries have settled in Switzerland and regularly return to visit their relatives.

This is the complete list, in the order in which they were published: Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Iraq, Israel, Kosovo, Kuwait, Moldova, Northern Macedonia, Oman, Panama, Peru, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Serbia, South Africa, the Turks and Caicas.

This list will be constantly updated by health authorities.

Persons arriving in Switzerland from these countries will be required to inform the cantonal authorities of their destination after entry. The authorities also informed their recommendations to airlines and buses not to transport sick passengers.

On June 15th, Switzerland opened with all the Schengen member states, as well as Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and the United Kingdom.
