Sörmland's farmers have been given different rainfall conditions, with some who feel that they have had enough rain to cope with a dry period for the moment, while others say they are not at all happy. This is stated by Johan Lagerholm, chairman of the Swedish Farmers' Federation of Södermanland after visiting various farms in the county and talking to the farmers about their situation.

- Those who have received a little rain feel worried about how the harvest will be during the summer. But summer is still at an early stage and it can still happen a lot, in both ways, he says.

May affect negatively

If the heat lasts for a longer period of time, it can affect the farmers' economy through less harvesting and they will then have to buy more feed, says Lagerholm.

- Weather is the farmer's best and worst friend. Most people have learned to live with the fact that the weather can vary, he says.

Water directly from the lake

One who is not completely dependent on the weather gods is Anders Eriksson at Kjulsta farm. Regardless of the weather, he can water parts of his land by pumping water directly from the lake.

- We started watering in 2017. It was thankful for 2017 was a dry year, and 2018 was very dry, says Anders Eriksson.

How does it work? He explains this in the clip above.
