School, Azzolina signs the decree: 855 million for extraordinary maintenance

The Minister of Education today signed the decree stating € 855 million for the financing of extraordinary maintenance and energy efficiency measures for provinces and metropolitan cities. The decree was also signed by the Minister of Economy and Finance. This was announced by a statement from the Ministry of Education.

"This is an important investment - explains Minister Lucia Azzolina - which affects second grade secondary schools and which is the culmination of a great coordination effort that has been going on, in recent months, between the Presidency of the Council of ministers, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, with the Union of the Provinces of Italy (UPI) and the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI) ".

"We are working to unlock all possible resources - adds Azzolina - a lot has been done on school construction, but there is still much to be done. Investments are there, you have to spend quickly and carry out the works".

The decree, still explain by the ministry, will now go to the signature of the Prime Minister and, immediately afterwards, by decree of the Minister of Education, the resources will be distributed between the provinces and metropolitan cities based on the school population, the number of buildings schools in the area.

Local authorities will have to identify and communicate the interventions they want to carry out as a priority. To speed up the implementation of these works, also in light of the attribution of the commission powers to mayors and presidents of the provinces and metropolitan cities foreseen by the School decree, in the next days the local authorities will be provided with the operational indications for the forwarding of the interventions to be implemented which will be carried out through a specific information system.
