During the meeting of the president with the working group on constitutional amendments, Senator Alexei Pushkov told the head of state about this incident.

“A flag was posted on the facade of the American embassy on the 24th, a rainbow flag, well, the LGBT flag. It was a kind of demonstration, ”said Pushkov.

Putin specified who works in the building where the LGBT flag was posted. Pushkov replied that "Americans, American diplomats" are working there.

"Well, okay. They showed something about who works there. Not scary, ”the president joked.

At the same time, the head of state emphasized that in Russia there are no and will not be restrictions on rights based on race or sexual orientation.

“I want to emphasize once again: there hasn’t been, isn’t and willn’t be anything in Russia that is related to the restriction of rights on the basis of race, sexual orientation, nationality, or religious grounds,” the president noted.

In June 2019, Putin commented on statements by British musician Elton John about the “duplicity” of Russian politics regarding the LGBT community. The President of Russia noted that the country has a very even and absolutely unbiased attitude towards the representatives of the LGBT community.

RT led a live broadcast of the meeting, which was held in the format of a video conference.
