- For me, this feels like an exciting and good step forward and I am really looking forward to doing what I can to drive the development of the county forward in the best way, says Peter Sandwall.

Since 2012, Peter Sandwall has worked as Director General of the Armed Forces and he has previously worked both within the Ministry of Finance and as a vessel manager in the fleet. He is a trained economist and reserve officer.

- I have some experiences with me both from the job I have now and before. It's about how to lead a complex organization and I have worked a lot with collaboration with other authorities and the business community, he says.

"Of course not good to change the governor so often"

Peter Sandwall takes over the assignment from the substitute governor Cecilia Schelin Seidegård, who took office in October last year. Both her predecessor and her predecessor both were forced to retire prematurely due to financial irregularities in the residence.

- I am aware of the history to some level, and it is obviously not good to have to change the governor so often. But I am not worried about the county administrative board because I know that this work has continued. My role is not least to contribute with continuity, says Peter Sandwall.

Discover the county

- I haven't been to the county before, the times I've been there I've come by sea. But the experiences I have are only positive, says Peter Sandwall.

How does it feel to make Kalmar your home for years to come?

- It is part of the assignment, to get to know the county and some new to the country. Both with the challenges and the nice parts that are there, so it feels exciting to get to know it, he says.
