The general secretary of the Union Ouvrière Yves Veyrier said Friday on Europe 1 "angry" after the announcement of Emmanuel Macron Thursday. The President of the Republic has indeed assured that he wished to relaunch the study of the pension reform. But Yves Veyrier assures him: the unions "will do everything to ensure that pension reform does not take place".

INTERVIEW

Emmanuel Macron announced Thursday in an interview with regional daily newspapers that he wanted to put the pension reform, but "transformed" reform back in the works, and asked for the resumption of negotiations with the social partners this summer. Friday on Europe 1, Yves Veyrier, secretary general of Force Ouvrière, explained that this was "really not the time to put this file on the table", referring to the epidemic of Covid-19.

While the pension reform should be studied again, Yves Verrier, "angry", reiterates his demands for the most precarious workers. He asked in particular "a consequent revaluation of wages", for those "cashiers and delivery men" in particular. Yves Veyrier claims more generally "a general reconsideration of this type of paid job at the minimum wage, precarious, often part-time".

But according to Yves Veyrier, there is still a long way to go. "We are telling them: 'in 43 years you may have a minimum pension at 85% of the minimum wage?' It is not acceptable, "he said. "We will do everything to ensure that pension reform does not take place."

Indeed, Thursday, Emmanuel Macron hinted that he was in favor of an extension of the duration of contributions, a parameter so far excluded. the question of how many years we contribute remains a question, "he said.

An unfavorable context for social tensions

On the other hand, when asked whether or not to maintain the pivotal age at 64, dear to his Prime Minister Édouard Philippe, he only replied: "I am open to the fact that (the reform) will be transformed".

But this new reform leaves Yves Veyrier skeptical, especially in the current context. "Now is not the time to put this file back on the table," he said. There is a risk of increasing the tension over a social conflict. We do not need it, "continues the trade unionist, who recalls that" we are facing a health crisis, a major social crisis ".

Temporary workers "on the floor"

Yves Veyrier takes as an example the situation of the aeronautical company Airbus, which has announced a major social plan. He is worried about the "thousands of temporary workers who are on the floor today" and for the employees of "the subcontracting chain".

And he fails to explain how the company could have been in so much trouble. "Airbus is one of the flagships of the industry in France. Until then it was a booming industry. There is no reason why it should not start again. In the present moment, we must preserve jobs and skills, "says Yves Veyrier.

For the trade unionist, the social plans announced in recent weeks have the same objective: they aim to "save on jobs". More precisely, it is a question of "using the crisis to push through restructuring which was in the pipes".
