All the rectors were appointed by a Supreme Court of Justice acquired by President Maduro, although this is normally the prerogative of the Assembly. Without opposition, the Chavist party now has the free way to resume this Assembly lost in 2015.
This boycott is not a first, the strategy had already been used in 2018 for the presidential election. And as in 2018, President Nicolas Maduro will use the participation of a very small part of the opposition to legitimize the election.
Guaido recognized as president by British justice
The election of December 6 therefore risks further aggravating the divide between two political groups which vie for power, and two groups of countries abroad which each support a president: Nicolas Maduro or Juan Guaido .
This Thursday, July 2, the British justice has for its part decided, it is Juan Guaido that it recognizes as Venezuelan head of state and who therefore has control over the gold reserves of this country stored in the United Kingdom . A man who by boycott will soon have no elective office in the country any longer.
