Prior to the first departure from Växjö to Skopje, the airline Wizzair demanded that all passengers should have mouth guards on board and the temperature should be measured on passengers. Similar requirements are set by other airlines operating from Växjö.

- Ryanair flies to Alicante on Monday and then mouth protection is required, but they do not require measurement of temperature, says Ulf Axelsson CEO at Småland airport.

Direct flights again

For almost three and a half months, air traffic has been stationary from Växjö, but on Thursday the first plane took off to Skopje.

- It was surprisingly much booked, the trip has been postponed several times and it is uncertain when it would go, but today it flew, says Ulf Axelsson CEO at Småland airport.

Canceled charter traffic

Regular traffic is thus running to several destinations. Charter traffic is canceled during the high summer season. Småland airport awaits news from KLM, where many people take the opportunity to fly from Växjö to Amsterdam and beyond into the world.

- It is bookable from August 30, but it depends on where we Swedes get admitted and not, there must be enough places we Swedes can go to for KLM to run the line again, concludes Ulf Axelsson.
