He also linked the results of the vote on constitutional amendments in the region, primarily “with the protest that has recently been concentrated against the association of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug with the Arkhangelsk region”. Remorseless stressed that "these sentiments among the inhabitants of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug were very serious."

According to RIA Novosti, NAO has become the only Russian region whose residents did not support amendments to the Constitution.

Earlier, a spokesman for the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov commented on the results of the vote in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

He did not rule out that they could be influenced by the issue of unification of the region with the Arkhangelsk region.

As specified, in this region 54.57% of voters did not support the amendment, 44.42% voted in favor.
