Earlier, as Sputnik Lithuania reported, the chairman of the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LRTK), Mantas Martisius, said that the commission was ready to take a decision to stop broadcasting channels in accordance with EU sanctions if an opinion was received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On July 2, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius announced that a parliamentary committee on radio and television, which controls the activities of radio and television broadcasters in the country, would be recommended to ban broadcasting of Russian television channels of the RT group.

“We will send a recommendation of this kind to the commission, since RT CEO Dmitry Kiselyov, who is in full control of this structure, is under sanctions, so sanctions must also be applied to the channels he manages,” TASS quoted the minister.

On June 30, the National Council for Electronic Media (NEPLP) of Latvia decided to ban the broadcasting of seven RT channels in the country.

Dmitry Kiselyov, who is under EU sanctions, does not work for RT, he is the general director of another media - MIA Russia Today. Companies are two separate legal entities.
