Earlier this year, the safety representative at Grubbe home service reported Umeå municipality after employees were forced to change into a toilet and had no opportunity to wash their clothes.

Now the municipality of Umeå risks a penalty of SEK 150,000 by the Swedish Work Environment Authority after the authority has determined that the municipality has breached the applicable work environment for the home service. Which according to the authority can cause someone to get hurt or get sick.

To the Swedish Work Environment Authority, the municipality has stated that they have drawn up a long-term plan around changing rooms and washing possibilities of work clothes in an adjacent building. However, the Swedish Work Environment Authority points out that work on preparing these premises has not begun.

Now Umeå municipality must fix the problems before October 30, 2020, otherwise they risk paying a penalty.
