On July 2, in response to the US Secretary of State Pompeo’s recent remarks on Hong Kong, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said at a regular press conference that Pompeo’s daily lies and rumors fully exposed his ignorance of Hong Kong’s national security laws. Ignorance of "one country, two systems", ignorance of the "Sino-British Joint Statement", and ignorance of basic principles of international law and international relations. Zhao Lijian said that Hong Kong’s National Security Act has added "anti-theft doors" to Hong Kong, which will surely lead Hong Kong's development back on track and lead Hong Kong to regain its reputation as the "Pearl of the East".
