CNOOC's discovery of high-yield gas streams in the eastern South China Sea is expected to become a large and medium-sized condensate oil and gas field

China National Offshore Oil Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CNOOC, 00883.HK; NYSE:CEO; TSX:CNU) has announced that it has made a major discovery of Huizhou 26-6 in the eastern waters of the South China Sea and is expected to become the first large and medium-sized condensate in the shallow water area of the Pearl River Mouth Basin. Oil and Gas Field.

The announcement shows that the Huizhou 26-6 structure is located in the Huizhou Sag, Zhuyi Depression, Pearl River Mouth Basin in the eastern South China Sea, with an average water depth of about 113 meters. The discovery well HZ26-6-1 completed a drilling depth of 4276 meters and encountered a thickness of 422.2 meters in oil and gas layers. After testing, the well produced an average daily output of approximately 2020 barrels of crude oil and approximately 15.36 million cubic feet of natural gas.

CNOOC said that the successful exploration of the 26-6 oil-bearing structure in Huizhou was the company's first exploration of a new high-productivity gas flow in the new area of the ancient buried hills in the eastern South China Sea, marking the acquisition of the Paleogene and ancient buried hill complex oil and gas reservoirs in the Pearl River Mouth Basin. A major breakthrough has been made, showing the huge prospects for exploration in this field.
