02 July 2020The international arbitral tribunal on the marò case has given Italy reason.

The judges recognized the "immunity" of naval riflemen Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone in relation to the events that occurred on February 15, 2012.

At the time the two were arrested on charges of killing two Indian fishermen mistaken for pirates.

The judges barred India from exercising its jurisdiction over them. The court acknowledged that the military were Italian state officials engaged in the exercise of their duties.

The news comes from the Farnesina.

The jurisdiction of the Lexie case is therefore of Italy.
