Former White House National Security Adviser John Bolton said President Trump is likely to push for a North American summit ahead of the November presidential election.

When asked about the possibility of the North American summit before the US presidential election at the New York Foreign Journalist Association conference, former aide, Bolton said, "In the United States, there is the word'Surprise of October' just before the election.' The talks may look like a reversal card."

'Surprise of October' refers to a large-scale anti-war event that was ambitiously prepared to influence the votes and judgments of the last pre-election voters in the US presidential election.

The possibility of'Surprise of October' was also raised at a seminar related to the Korean Peninsula held by the US Think Tank Strategic International Research Institute and CSIS in collaboration with the Korea Foundation.

Victor Cha CSIS, South Korea's chair, talked about the possibility of President Trump exchanging North Korea's Yongbyon and exchanging some sanctions against North Korea.

Chairman Cha said in a memoir of former Bolton an interview with President Trump asking what would happen if he lifted some of the sanctions against North Korea, he said, "This is the key that could lead to October's surprise."
