  • Four out of ten Ile-de-France residents had not returned to work a month after the deconfinement.
  • However, respondents believe that 82% believe that resuming in the classroom is useful or even essential.
  • Since the deconfinement, 31% of respondents - 20% of Parisians, 37% of inhabitants of the Petite Couronne and 40% of the Grande Couronne - use public transport less or more in favor of the car or soft mobility (bicycle , electric bike or walking) for their commuting.

One month after confinement, 41% of Ile-de-France residents were still at home working. This is what emerges from a study - which  20 Minutes  was able to consult exclusively - from the consultancy firm Inov360 on changes in the behavior of Ile-de-France residents in their commuting from home to work before, during and after confinement. For this study, to which 12,066 Ile-de-France residents * responded, Inov360 involved 22 partners: five groups (SNCF Réseau, Orange, etc.), four public players (the Paris Region Institute, Grand Paris Seine Ouest, etc.) and thirteen SMEs or start-ups. (Pay by Phone, Stuart…).

If four Ile-de-France residents out of ten had not returned to their work a month after the deconfinement, the respondents nevertheless believe that 82% believe that resumption in the classroom is useful or even essential. While 22% occasionally or regularly practiced teleworking before confinement, more than half of the respondents (56%) were in the  home office  from March 17 to May 11.

Two other waves of study to follow the evolution of behaviors

Since the deconfinement, 31% of respondents - 20% of Parisians, 37% of inhabitants of the Petite Couronne and 40% of the Grande Couronne - use public transport less or more in favor of the car or soft mobility (bicycle , electric bike or walking) for their commuting. Public transport is totally or partially shunned by 36% of respondents for their personal travel.

Inov360 and its 22 partners have planned two next waves for their study from July 7 to 14 and from September 10 to 17, 2020. These will allow us to follow changes in behavior.

* This study was carried out from June 8 to 17, 2020 with 12,066 people via an online survey. The results have been adjusted to be representative of the socio-economic reality of the Ile-de-France region.
