"We work unconditionally, and cannot say for sure where the fire started," says Marie Åhlund, who is the lead investigator.

There is information that the fire should have started on a balcony after someone grilled, but there is nothing that Marie Åhlund does not want to confirm or resign.

"There is nothing to suggest that at the moment but sounds more like speculation," she says.

NFC convened

In addition to the police's own techniques, staff from the National Forensic Center, NFC, are also working to clarify the cause of the fire.

- It has burned so much and there is so much that has been destroyed so it is better with more eyes, says Marie Åhlund.

The police have also heard some of the residents in the area, but not all of the properties that are under fire are believed to have started.

- The hope is to be able to hear at least someone from every household in the properties this week, says Marie Åhlund.

Move back

Tenants have been able to move back in seven of the 24 smoke-damaged apartments, and the ambition is that everyone should be able to move back before the end of the week.

"For us, it's perfectly okay to move back, but it's more than a question for tenants and their insurance companies," says Heidi Berger, Marketing Manager at Stångåstaden.

Some tenants have also had to go into the apartments that have been partially burned to collect items.

"It is really only in the most fire-ravaged property that no one has been allowed in because the police are not yet ready with the technical investigation," says Heidi Berger.
