The former CEO of La Provence, Claude Perrier, 58, will become on September 1 the new CEO of France-Antilles, the only daily newspaper in the Antilles and Guyana, bought in March by businessman Xavier Niel, he announced himself in a press release on Wednesday.

In a tweet, Claude Perrier had already said on Monday "very happy and very proud" to join France-Antilles at the start of the school year.

Media man, Claude Perrier had become in July 2014 deputy managing director of SA La Provence, before being promoted to CEO in February 2015, a position he held until May 2017.

France-Antilles, taken over in extremis on March 17 by NJJ, the holding company of businessman Xavier Niel, was again published in paper version in Guadeloupe and Martinique on June 18. The group had already resumed digital service on April 1, in the midst of an epidemic of new coronavirus.

The three editions of the only daily newspaper in the Antilles and Guyana were drafted on March 17 by Xavier Niel, after their liquidation on January 31 by the mixed commercial court of Fort-de-France. The offer of the founder of Free, already co-shareholder of Le Monde and recent owner of Nice-Matin, came 20 days later, proposing to inject 8 million euros to save the three companies.

The last publication of the daily was dated February 1, when employees thought they had worked on a farewell number.

In Guadeloupe, Guyana and Martinique, France-Antilles now has a total of 126 employees compared to 235 previously.

Claude Perrier spent part of his career at Radio France, where he was notably director of France Bleu Hérault (2003), director of France Bleu Provence (2008), then director of the France Bleu network (2013).

Claude Perrier also knows the overseas media: joined RFO in 1998, he held the positions of director of production and co-productions, then assistant to the director of finance.

Until his appointment as head of France-Antilles, Mr. Perrier was Deputy Director General in charge of Economic Attractiveness, Innovation, Tourism and International Affairs for the City of Nice and the Nice Côte Métropole Azure. He was just before special advisor to the Mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi.
