It is understood that the fishing closure range is between 32°S-44°S and 48°W-60°W in the high seas of the Southwest Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the main operating areas of my country's oceanic squid fishery. During the fishing moratorium, all Chinese ocean-going fishing vessels, including squid fishing and trawlers, operating in the corresponding areas of the high seas of the Southwest Atlantic Ocean must cease operations. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will work closely with fisheries authorities and related units to strictly control the offshore fishing vessels during the fishing moratorium, and will punish the ocean fishing vessels and ocean fishing enterprises that violate the fishing suspension regulations.
In the next step, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will organize relevant technical units and experts to establish a high seas squid resource data collection mechanism, track monitoring and evaluate the implementation of fishing closures, and provide a scientific basis for dynamically adjusting fishing closures. In addition, in the relevant waters of the high seas of the East Pacific, a three-month voluntary fishing closure will be implemented from September 1.
