The Rennes Volley 35, in great financial difficulty, could be taken up by the amateurs of the Rennes student clubs (REC), amateur club which announced its intention to seize the French Olympic Committee (CNOSF) in this perspective.

The REC announced in a press release that it had "decided to ensure by itself the continuity" of the activity of the Rennes Volley 35, "and to contact the CNOSF" in this sense.

The Rennes club, which occupied third place in the championship before its interruption due to the coronavius pandemic, has not received the approval of the Commission for assistance and control of professional clubs (CACCP) to play in Ligue A during the 2020/2021 season, the National Volleyball League (LNV) announced on Friday.

This decision was "confirmed on appeal by the Higher Council of the DNACG", the National Directorate of Aid and Management Control, added the LNV. An announcement that had prompted club leaders to announce Monday to Ouest-France their intention to file for bankruptcy.

The REC Volley says to take note of the decision of the appeal commission of the DNACG (National direction of assistance and control of management) concerning the future of the professional team.

"It is a question of responsibility vis-à-vis all", underlines the REC Volley which assures that "the leaders and the living forces who accompany them, are already working on the construction of a budget which should keep the professional level, with the goal of Ligue A for the 2020-21 season. "

Rennes, long at the head of the championship before the end of the season, is faced with a hole in its boxes of 300,000 to 400,000 euros, or about 20% of the budget for the season.

The REC promises to "build an ambitious, coherent, sustainable project, based on compliance with tax and legal rules, transparency and sports ethics".

At issue: complicated management, internal conflicts and repeated sanctions by the financial gendarme.

Ensuring that it wants to defend "the rights of all of Rennes' volleyball to the end", the REC "cannot resolve the disappearance of professional volleyball in Rennes".

Friday, the LNV had announced that a recovery project, led by international Kevin Le Roux, had been failed by the financial gendarme of volleyball.
