The vast majority of IF Metall's members at SSAB in Oxelösund are covered by the agreement that has now been negotiated between the employer and the union.

- You never get happy when you close a factory. But if it had not been like this, it would probably have been the talk of notice instead. The market does not look so fun, says Mikael Henriksson, chairman of IF Metall at SSAB Oxelösund, adding:

- It may be lucky that it comes in the summer, when people want to be vacant.

The agreement is valid for three summer weeks in July. In August, most people go on vacation and in September the union expects members to be needed in production again.

- Then we will drive again, we hope, says Mikael Henriksson.

During the spring, the steel group also short-termed employees in Oxelösund, at a lower rate than the 80 percent that now applies to the collective members.

SVT Sörmland has applied for SSAB for a comment.
