The English club in Leicester announced on Tuesday that it will continue to play its Premier League home matches at its stadium, despite the government-ordered city change due to a spate of new Covid-19 cases.

"The club consulted local authorities, its security and Premier League advisory group (Tuesday) after government announcements on Monday regarding the coronavirus measures in Leicester," the Foxes said in their statement.

"All parties remain convinced that, thanks to the implementation of our operational plan against the Covid, the club's activity can continue safely with the current protocol," they add.

"As a result, training for the first team will continue to take place at Belvoir Drive (the club's training center) and our upcoming matches in the Premier League are unchanged."

Currently 3rd in the championship, Leicester is fighting for a place in the Champions League next season, followed by Chelsea at one point and Wolverhampton at 4 lengths.

Of the seven games he has yet to play this season, three are to take place at King Power Stadium, against Crystal Palace, Sheffield United and Manchester United.

"The club remains ready to adapt to a very evolving situation and measures allowing continuity have been developed in case we have to modify the existing protocols", further assures the club, which announces that its store at the stadium has been closed, in accordance with measures targeting non-essential businesses.

The British government announced on Monday a tightening of containment in Leicester, due to an outbreak of new coronavirus infections, as restrictions will be loosened sharply everywhere else in England starting this weekend.
