Argentine superstar and sixfold FC Barcelona Ballon d'Or, Lionel Messi, scored his 700th professional career goal this Tuesday in the match against Atlético Madrid in its 33rd day in La Liga.

And what a goal! At 33, Lionel Messi converted into a panenka a penalty caused by Nelson Semedo, very slightly caught in the area by Felipe.

This is his 700th professional career goal: the "Pulga" (chip, in Spanish) scored 630 with Barça and 70 with the Argentinian national selection, all competitions combined.

This season, Leo Messi dominates the ranking of the top scorers in the Spanish championship for the 4th consecutive year, with 22 goals in 28 games, against 17 in 31 games for his first pursuer, French Karim Benzema (Real Madrid).

With 700 career goals, Messi crossed milestones rarely reached in the history of football, and joined football legends such as the Brazilian goal scorers Pelé and Romario, or the Hungarian Ferenc Puskas.
