Investigators opened a criminal case on the grounds of crimes under Part 1 of Art. 118 of the Criminal Code of Russia (“Causing grievous bodily harm through negligence”) and Art. 168 of the Criminal Code (“Destruction and damage to property by negligence”).

According to the investigation, on June 29 a resident of the house “showed criminal negligence when handling gas-air equipment”.

“As a result, there was a clap and the subsequent occurrence of a fire,” the report said.

As noted, eyewitnesses and residents of the house were questioned, who said that the man in whose apartment these events had occurred had occasionally abused alcohol. He is also hospitalized and is in serious condition.

Earlier, Mosgaz stated that the gas equipment at the site of the fire in the house on Prokhodchikov Street was not destroyed and could not cause an emergency.
