A cleaner from a hospital in Úbeda has been sanctioned with employment and salary for 10 days for calling the attention of managers of the San Juan de la Cruz hospital in the town of Jaén who did not wear the mask. " To ensure that health protection measures are complied with , " the CGT union in the Andalusian town has reported.

CGT considers that the rights of this employee have been "trampled", "whom they have not even called to hear her version before sanctioning her," the local newspaper Ideal de Úbeda has reported . For the company, the employee committed a serious offense on April 14, when the events occurred.

The people the cleaner went to were the director of general services and three members of the management team who accompanied her in the hospital staff cafeteria.

According to CGT, the cleaner was "hugely" surprised by the "not exemplary" attitude of these people. " All people have the obligation to comply with the rules , set an example and prevent the pandemic from spreading" and points out that "putting on the mask is a duty in a hospital center according to current regulations."

CGT believes that the freedom of expression of the worker is being violated and warns about the possibility that the employee has suffered "harassment and union persecution" for being a union delegate in the company, which has come to the defense of the cleaner and has judicially appealed the sanction. CGT asks for compensation for all the moral prejudices caused to the employee, from depression.
