- A wooden box was built with stone at one time, probably in 1875. We suspect that a reinforcement measure needs to be done by the quay construction, says Peter Borgebäck, project manager at Kalmar Municipality.

The problem was discovered during an inspection, where it was found that the ground was uneven, a sign that the foundation may be in poor condition.

- We have closed off the area because trucks sometimes park there. There is no indication that lighter loads would trigger a race, says Peter Borgebäck.

When the investigation is complete, Peter Borgebäck expects it can take about six months to fix the problem. But first, the municipality must find out how serious the problem is and what you want to do with the quay. Among other things, the municipality must decide whether the quay will withstand ship laying, since then the stress on the quay would be greater than if it were freely.
