Israeli media quoted Israeli officials as saying that the Jordanian government has made clear to Israel that it will firmly oppose the annexation of parts of the West Bank, at a time when US-Israeli discussions are taking place on this file.

Israeli Channel 13 said that this Jordanian position was expressed by King Abdullah II a week ago to the head of the Israeli Mossad, and stressed that Jordan made this clear to both the United States and the European Union.

In a previous interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel, the Jordanian king said that any steps taken by Israel to annex parts of the West Bank in July would lead to a major clash with his country.

For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the American plan for peace in the Middle East practically ended what he described as the illusion of a two-state solution.

Netanyahu added - in a recorded speech broadcast to the virtual conference of an American organization called "United Christians for Israel" - that Israel's annexation of parts of the West Bank would enhance the chances of achieving peace in the Middle East. Netanyahu also announced his readiness to negotiate with the Palestinians, and called on the Palestinian side to negotiate based on the US peace plan.

Netanyahu had pledged to start implementing the annexation plan by next month, and the plan would annex 30% of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, the Jordan Valley, the central West Bank, and between Hebron and Bethlehem.

On June 22, the Palestinian presidency vowed to take tough and important decisions (whose nature has not been determined) if Israel implements the annexation plan.

My people refused

On Saturday, hundreds of Jordanians formed a human chain in the capital, Amman, in opposition to the Israeli annexation plan to be implemented within the next few days.

Anatolia correspondent reported that the series was organized by the Islamic movement, and the participants held banners reading "Normalization with the Zionist occupation betrayal" and "The setback will not be repeated", "The aggression of annexation will not pass" and "The occupation is the root of terrorism".

The general observer of the Muslim Brotherhood, Abdul Hamid Al-Thunaibat, told Anatolia that this stand and the human chain came as a protest and a refusal of the Zionist enemy to annex the Aghwar region.

Al-Thunaibat added - during his participation in the event - that this demonstration supported and attributed to the official position of the Kingdom against this calamity and the new catastrophe that has befallen the Palestinian cause at the expense of Jordan.

For his part, the movement's leader, Hamzah Mansour, stressed the need for the Palestinian people to stand up against the annexation decision, and that this plan has dangerous implications.

He added on the sidelines of the event that the Jordanian position is solid, clear and appreciated, and we hope that the speech of King Abdullah II will be translated into what compels the Zionist enemy to back down from this step.

In Morocco, the opposition Independence Party called on Sunday to abort the Israeli plan to annex lands from the occupied Palestinian West Bank, warning of a new generation of conflicts and wars in the Middle East.

In a statement, the party's central committee said it strongly condemned the attempts of the usurpering Israeli entity to implement a plan to annex lands from the West Bank and the Jordan Valley to Israel.

American-Israeli talks

Meanwhile, an American delegation - headed by Special Envoy Avi Berkowitz, envoy to Israel David Friedman and official of the Maps Committee Scott Fyth - began his discussions with Israeli officials on implementing the annexation of parts of the West Bank to Israel.

The US delegation is scheduled to meet with Netanyahu, the alternate prime minister, and Defense Minister Benny Gantz.

These talks come after consultations held by President Donald Trump's advisors at the White House about giving Israel the green light to start annexing areas in the West Bank, according to what is known as the Trump peace plan, which the Palestinians affirm is aimed at liquidating their cause and preventing the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and geographically connected Palestinian state. .

Walid Al-Omari, director of the Al-Jazeera office in Jerusalem, said that the American delegation will hold days of meetings with Israeli officials to formulate a joint Israeli-American decision on the annexation plan based on the joint maps that the two sides have drawn up over the past months.

He added that it is clear that the annexation of lands has become a US-Israeli decision with distinction, pointing out that there was a trend towards progressive implementation of the annexation in areas other than the Jordan Valley in a manner that does not offend Jordan.
