Justice has ruled in the Fillon case. Monday, June 29, the Paris criminal court found François Fillon guilty of embezzlement of public funds in the fictitious jobs case of his wife Penelope. The scandal caused a stir in 2017 during his campaign for the presidential election, pushing him to throw in the towel; what he hadn't done [came third].

Penelope Fillon is found guilty of complicity and concealment of embezzlement of public funds. The third defendant, the former deputy for François Fillon, Marc Joulaud, was also found guilty.

The judgment will be rendered at the start of the afternoon, after having tacitly rejected the defense's requests to reopen the proceedings to shed light on possible "pressures" during the investigation.
