The Fillon spouses are going to appeal their conviction, we learned on Monday from the couple's lawyers. Former Prime Minister François Fillon was sentenced Monday in Paris to five years in prison, two of which are closed, in the fictitious jobs case of his wife Penelope. The latter was also sentenced. In particular, she received a three-year suspended prison sentence.  

The Fillon couple decided to appeal their conviction, lawyers for François and Penelope Fillon announced on Monday. Former Prime Minister François Fillon was sentenced Monday in Paris to five years in prison, two of which are closed, in the fictitious jobs case of his wife Penelope who had derailed his presidential campaign three years ago. Penelope Fillon was sentenced to a three-year suspended prison sentence and a 375,000 euro fine and two years of ineligibility.
