China National People's Congress Commerce Committee held a meeting yesterday and deliberated the draft Hong Kong National Security Law.

Today, on the last day of the meeting, the Commerce Department is said to pass the Hong Kong Security Law by vote.

Hong Kong, CEO of In-In University, said the probability that the law would be passed in the near future is 99.9%.

If the Hong Kong Security Law passes, it is expected to take effect tomorrow, the 23rd anniversary of Hong Kong's sovereignty.

The Hong Kong Security Law includes the prohibition and punishment of state regime overthrow and terrorism, foreign forces and collusion, and national division, and the establishment of an enforcement agency in Hong Kong.

The maximum sentence is set to life imprisonment and the possibility of retrospective application is also raised.

Hong Kong's civil society and pan-democratic camps, which are expected to hit hard, were to hold a large-scale rally against security law tomorrow, but police banned it for reasons such as corona.

If the Hong Kong Security Law passes, the US pressure on China to oppose the bill is expected to intensify.

China, emphasizing that the Hong Kong issue is domestic affairs, has countered the United States with the same measures regarding visa restrictions by Chinese officials on the Hong Kong issue.
