Gothenburg is now carrying out numerous infrastructure projects and housing construction. This means that quantities of stone and clay masses must be transported away. The company Massoptimering Väst AB has applied for a permit to build a landfill for all these excavation masses in Vråssered between Olofstorp and Lerum.

Three million tons

These are about three million tonnes of shaft masses over a 20-year period, and according to the cleric politicians, can carry 80 heavy truck transports per day. In this case, these should be driven both through the center of Lerum and further out on the already accident-hit Olofstorpsvägen, which politicians believe is directly inappropriate.

More accidents

The municipality's environmental unit assesses that the proposed transport route poses a risk of an increased number of traffic accidents.

- Olofstorpsvägen cannot handle an addition of 80 trucks per day, it would be a disaster for road safety. The stretch of road lacks a branch and is run by cyclists, slow-moving vehicles and children waiting for the bus at the roadside, politicians said in a press release.

In addition, there is no investigation of vibrations, noise and stability, and politicians believe it is uncertain whether the Häradsbron from 1958 can handle so much heavy traffic.

The final decision is made by the county administrative board.
