Australian Open champion American Sofia Kenin bowed Saturday against compatriot Madison Keys 6-3, 5-7, 10-2 at an exhibition tournament in Charleston.

Led 4-0 in the second inning, Kenin nevertheless found the resources to resurface, not without having to rule out a match point in the ninth game.

But the 4th in the world, who had confirmed after their first Grand Slam title won in Melbourne by also winning in Lyon this season, did not last the distance in the super tie-break. Keys, a former US Open finalist and ranked 13th in the world, quickly widened the gap to win.

In the other game of the day, American Jennifer Brady dominated her compatriot and winner of the 2017 US Open Sloane Stephens 6-3, 7-6 (7/4). The meeting between Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Shelby Rogers was delayed by the rain.
