THE ESSENTIAL
- In the first round, mayor Philippe Saurel finished in the lead with 19.11%, slightly ahead of socialist Michaël Delafosse (16.66%) and business manager Mohed Altrad (13.30%). All three are present for a triangular in the second round.
- Of surprises in twists and turns, this campaign was one of the craziest in France, between record lists in the first round (14), improbable merger in the second between the 31st French professional fortune and three lists very to the left, splits among environmentalists and activists from La France insoumise (among others).
- In the rest of Languedoc and Roussillon, other hot spots are to be followed for this second round. Especially in Perpignan where Louis Aliot (RN) will try to overthrow the outgoing mayor Jean-Marc Pujol (LR).
