Macron meets Merkel before Germany takes over EU presidency

Six weeks ago, it was through interposed screens that they proposed an unprecedented recovery plan for the coronavirus crisis. Emmanuel Macron is going to Germany on Monday June 29 to meet Angela Merkel there just before the German Presidency of the European Union which begins on July 1 for 6 months.

Today the Élysée wants to believe it: all the ingredients are there for an agreement. This meeting should make it possible to establish a battle plan to convince the most reluctant.
