Socialists seize Saint-Ouen. Karim Bouamrane, PS candidate for municipal elections was elected in the second round of the elections with 38.08% of the vote. He is ahead of the candidate (DVG) Denis Vemclefs (29.38%) and the outgoing mayor William Delannoy (UDI) who obtains 32.52%. However, the ballot was far from won for Karim Bouamrane.

"We are going to build a beautiful city"

While the outgoing mayor, William Delannoy (UDI) came out on top in the first round with 25.65% of the vote, two lists on the left faced each other and hoped for the alternation. On one side was Karim Bouamrane (PS, EELV) and on the other, Denis Vemclefs who made an alliance with the former mayor of the city, Jacqueline Rouillon for a list supported by the PCF and LFI. But ultimately this division between the left did not lead to their loss.

“Being mayor was not a dream. But I never doubted. It was written, it became obvious throughout the campaign. There was something going on (…), said Karim Bouamrane, this Sunday evening, reports Le Parisien . Now we have something to write together: living in Saint-Ouen should no longer be an obstacle but a source of pride, an asset. We're going to build a beautiful city. "
