On the eve of the judgment in the Fillon case, the results of the municipal election in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, stronghold of the Fillon family, were carefully scrutinized. And it is a little surprise since the outgoing mayor, Marc Joulaud (LR), obtains only 43.6% of the votes and is therefore beaten by one of his former municipal councilors, Nicolas Leudière, who, he totals 47, 9% of the vote.

Marc Joulaud was the one who had employed and paid Pénélope Fillon as a parliamentary collaborator between 2002 and 2007, a job presumed to be fictitious. He then replaced François Fillon as deputy for Sarthe. He is currently on trial for embezzlement of public funds.
