This Friday, the deputies voted by majority to award this title to the head of state for "services rendered to the nation". A nomination denounced by the opposition for whom this title recalls dark hours of African history.

The resolution was not included in the agenda, but Friday, June 26, the majority deputies raised the President of the Republic and general to the honorary title of Marshal of Chad. A spontaneous initiative, explains Jean-Bernard Padaré, the spokesperson for the MPS, the presidential party: “  It is a consecrated elevation, provided for in our texts. He is not a marshal in the army, it is not a rank, it is a dignity in relation to his entire career.  "

But for the elected representatives of the opposition who left the room at the beginning of the session, this title is anachronistic, indignant Saleh Kebzabo, leader of the Chadian opposition. “  When you hear this title of marshal, it makes you smile, it doesn't make you laugh. It is not up to date or out of time. When you say marshal today in Africa, we think of Bokassa, we think of Idi Amine, we think of Mobutu, a wacky character. But unfortunately for us, the party in power demonstrates that Chad is at this level because President Déby, chief of the armies, does not need another title was he honorary.  "

This appointment comes after Operation Bohoma launched against the jihadists present in Lake Chad. A great success for the majority while the opposition reminds that the war is still not over.
