Concern about outbreaks of coronaviruses registered in an immigration reception center in Malaga and in another outbreak detected in Lepe (Huelva) has forced new preventive measures to be taken to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Thus, the Municipalities of Isla Cristina and Cartaya , neighboring that of Lepe, where an outbreak has been registered that affects nine people and keeps fifty people isolated, have decided on different actions to stop the infections. In the case of Isla Cristina, it has been decided to suspend public and private activities that could cause crowds for 5 days. Cartaya has announced that, for the moment, "the vigilance increases".

Among the activities suspended in Isla Cristina are the Sunday market, in addition to sporting, cultural and other events. The closure of playgrounds and bio-health centers throughout the municipal area will also be maintained for one more week, intensifying the cleaning and disinfection of the streets, especially affecting the areas with the highest traffic of people.

People infected in the outbreak of coronavirus registered in Lepe already number a dozen, while 61 remain in isolation as suspected, according to yesterday the delegate of Health and Families of the Junta de Andalucía in Huelva, Manuela Caro.

When asked by journalists, Caro explained that this outbreak began with two suspicious people, of whom only one had a positive PCR, a sailor who worked in Senegal who arrived without symptoms in Spain and who later had a fever, which motivated him to come to health services.

In the case of Malaga, the situation at the Red Cross Reception Center in Malaga keeps those responsible in suspense, fearing new infections, from the outbreak known this week. The Ministry of Health has extended the tracking of possible cases to two other immigrant centers in Malaga where NGO staff provide services.

So far, and according to data reported by the Board at noon this Friday, a total of 87 positive cases are recorded , two fewer than the director of the Center for Coordination of Alerts and Health Emergencies, Fernando Simón, pointed out on Thursday before the media, when he spoke of 89. In that appearance, he acknowledged that Malaga is, along with Aragon, one of those that represent the greatest risk and that "really worries" today, in a context that places some 40 outbreaks of coronavirus detected in the country.

Since last Tuesday, the center managed by the Red Cross in Malaga has been "sealed" by the Police, who will maintain the surveillance device that prevents entry and exit to it until the situation returns to normal, a circumstance that will go hand in hand with the data that the Ministry of Health and Families of the Board continues to update, and whose managers insist on sending "a message of serenity and calm to the Malaga population", as highlighted by the delegate of the regional administration, Patricia Navarro.

From the Board stressed that "the focus is identified, all the people who were inside the center are in isolation" and the Malaga health district has decided to extend the tracking of cases to two other points where the Red Cross serves immigrants. It is the one located in the Trinidad neighborhood of the capital of the Costa del Sol, and a youth hostel, in which the members of the NGO serve refugees, in the Carranque area.

The possible origin of the outbreak has not been officially announced at the moment, although some sources speak of a worker who moved to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in an asymptomatic state on June 14, to return days later to Malaga, as carrier of that virus. On Monday, there was another start in the Malaga infrastructure: an immigrant woman who had a fever and who underwent a PCR in the Emergency Department, confirming the second of the cases and activating all the alarms.

The facilities were closed and the heads of the center work at all times "hand in hand with the Epidemiology service, and in continuous contact with experts," as the provincial coordinator of the Red Cross, Samuel Linares , told this newspaper .

The established protocol has focused work since then on what epidemiologists call narrow circles: those people who have been affected in reduced spaces for more than fifteen minutes, who have shared living spaces, such as dining rooms or closed rooms. Although the official figure has not transpired, it is estimated that there are about 130 people in isolation.
