New assessments, new measures, highlights: an update on the latest developments in the Covid-19 pandemic around the world.

- Deaths of very rare children (study) -

Deaths in children (aged three days to less than 18 years old) from Covid-19 are extremely rare and occur in less than 1% of cases, as the disease remains mostly mild in them, confirms an international European study published in the specialized journal The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health.

- Sweden denies "strong resurgence" -

Swedish authorities on Friday denounced the World Health Organization's decision to classify the kingdom as one of the countries with a "high resurgence" of coronavirus cases, speaking of a "total misinterpretation" of Swedish data.

The WHO list also includes Armenia, Moldova, North Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo and Ukraine.

Ukraine recorded a record 1,109 new coronavirus cases on Friday, contagion rates have accelerated since the restrictions were lifted, a "serious wave" according to authorities.

- The worst of the "probably past" economic crisis (ECB) -

The worst of the economic crisis caused by the epidemic in the eurozone is "probably past", said the president of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, insisting that the recovery will nevertheless be "incomplete" and that it will "transform" the economy.

- Nearly 490,000 dead -

The pandemic caused by the new coronavirus has killed at least 487,274 people worldwide since China officially announced the appearance in December of the disease, according to a report established by AFP from official sources Friday at 11:00 a.m. GMT.

The United States is the most bereaved country with 122,238 deaths. Next come Brazil (54,971), the United Kingdom (43,230), Italy (34,678) and France (29,752).

- Mexico: more than 25,000 dead -

More than 25,000 people have died in Mexico from Covid-19 and some 200,000 others have been infected since the start of the epidemic, according to authorities.

Mexican Finance Minister Arturo Herrera announced on Thursday that he had contracted Covid-19, three days after meeting with President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador.

- The Netherlands helps Air-France-KLM -

After France, the Netherlands comes to the rescue of Air France-KLM by providing aid of 3.4 billion euros to the Dutch company to enable it "to face the crisis" linked to the coronavirus.

- Paris-Orly Airport is restarting -

After nearly three months of shutdown, Orly airport, one of those serving Paris, has resumed its activity with a first flight to Porto (Portugal), a recovery marked by an intrusion of environmental activists from Extinction Rebellion who briefly interrupted the activity.

- Call for caution in England-

The British government has urged people to respect the rules of distancing or risk seeing the epidemic start again, as the English beaches are stormed due to the heat wave.

The head of the London police denounced the "unacceptable" attacks on police officers who have come to end wild street parties in recent days.

- Australia: toilet paper again rationed -

Australian supermarkets have again placed limits on the number of rolls of toilet paper they can buy, due to a new shopping spree by panicked customers over the surge in cases of coronavirus in Melbourne.

- Boxing: Roberto Duran hospitalized -

Panamanian boxing legend Roberto Duran, world champion in four different weight categories, contracted the Covid-19 and was hospitalized.
