• UK. 22 policemen injured trying to dissolve a South London street party

A group of British police officers were attacked while trying to disperse an illegal party last night in west London, in the second such incident in two days.

As the UK conducts its own de-escalation process following the coronavirus pandemic, the police have had to deal with a series of illegal parties and raves across the country that contravene confinement rules.

On this occasion, the agents tried to disperse a concert that was being held without a license near Colville Gardens (Notting Hill), in west London, on Thursday night.

"Objects were thrown at officers who dispersed the crowd," police said. " Violence will not be tolerated ." Commander Bas Javid said the presence of extra agents with protective equipment was required to ensure that an "effective response" to any disturbance was carried out. "Our mission is to protect communities," he added.

The night before, 22 policemen were injured during trouble at an unauthorized music event in South London.
