The staircase of Place Saint-Pierre, in Toulouse, one evening in June 2020. - Béatrice Colin / 20 Minutes

Place Saint-Pierre is a festive mecca in the center of Toulouse. But massive alcoholism causes many slippages, sometimes serious. During the night of Wednesday to Thursday, at around 4:30 a.m., two men got out of a group of friends to disturb two young women. They asked them to calm down.

The attackers then pushed them down the stairs that lead to the Garonne docks. One of the victims lost consciousness for a few moments before being taken to hospital. The other was injured in the head and elbow.

Already known for acts of violence

The two men, aged 26 and 27 and already known for violent acts, were arrested by a patrol of the anti-crime brigade (BAC), assisted by municipal police. Drunk at the time of the crime, they were taken into police custody.
