A 45-year-old man was tried on Wednesday in the Rennes criminal court for ill-treatment of animals. Following a report, the veterinary services had visited the farm of this Fougères breeder. They then discovered that his cows were not sufficiently fed and that the premises were poorly maintained, reports Ouest-France . During the following visits, these are corpses of animals that had been found next to the living animals. The latter also had no veterinary follow-up.

At the helm, the farmer explained that his herd had been affected by paratuberculosis and that he did not have enough money to call on veterinarians. On the recommendation of the public prosecutor, part of his herd was slaughtered. The proceeds from the sale of the rest of the livestock will also be paid to the animal protection society, the daily said.
