The United States did not declare Russia the possibility of revoking its signature on the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT); US authorities see no reason to resume nuclear testing. This was stated by the special representative of the American president for arms control Marshall Billingsley following bilateral consultations in Vienna.
According to him, the Russian side asked about press reports about nuclear tests in the United States, reports TASS.
“We retain and will continue to be able to conduct nuclear tests if we have reasons for this, but I see no reason to conduct (nuclear. - RT ) tests at this stage,” he said.
Billingsley previously stated Washington’s readiness “under certain circumstances” to consider extending the START Treaty.
