• Ranking. The 100 most influential gays in Spain 2020

This 2020, there will be no floats parading with a festive atmosphere through the city center or stages in the Plaza de Pedro Zerolo or Puerta del Sol. Nor will there be people crowding every corner of Chueca and the regulars will be left without the traditional heel race. The Covid-19 has left a trail of acts on hold this summer, although it has not been able to stop the demand of the LGTBI collective, which will celebrate Gay Pride in an atypical way taking as an ally to new technologies.

After announcing that the party would be postponed until sanitary and security conditions allowed it, finally, and given the prospect presented, the Organizing Committee of LGBTI State Pride - composed of the State Federation of Lesbians, Gays, Trans and Bisexuals ( FELGTB), COGAM, Madrid LGTB + Collective and the Association of Companies and Professionals for the Madrid LGTBI Collective (AEGAL) - announced that the same dates planned before the crisis will be held, from June 28 to July 5, with a virtual programming in the line of other Prides of the world.

The demonstration that every first Saturday of July runs from Atocha to Colón will come this year online and under the slogan 'Sorority and feminism to TRANSform. Lesbian, trans and bisexual women in action! For the most vulnerable! It will be on July 4, at 7:00 p.m. and can be followed from the MADO (Madrid Pride) website.

But before the celebration of the summit of the party, on June 28, Pride Day, the day that commemorates the Stonewall riots, the celebration will be kicked off with a virtual proclamation, with the participation from the presenter Carlos Sobera, the leading actresses of the Veneno series, the water polo player Víctor Gutiérrez and Itziar Castro, one of the protagonists of the new HBO Spain series 'Por H o por B'. In addition, the MADO 2020 anthem will be a choral version of the song 'Think positive' by Fangoria.

It will not be the same, but the stages of the Plaza de Pedro Zerolo, the Plaza del Rey, the Puerta de Alcalá and the Puerta del Sol will be open to the public, with their performances, through the screen. From the official website, these spaces can be accessed virtually and the different artists, still unknown, will be able to hang their songs in each space. In addition, next year they will have the privilege of performing live those with the most views.

To wrap the party, during Gay Pride week, the rainbow flag will flood the streets in a special way, the one that became fashionable on the hard days of the pandemic: from the balconies. The organizers of the MADO have encouraged the public to decorate these spaces, as well as the houses and the shop windows, and will reward the best proposals with trips to Torremolinos and Maspalomas through an Instagram contest.

The Mr. Gay Pride Spain event, whose finale is traditionally held at Puerta del Sol, will not be possible, although a special online program will remember the best moments of recent years.

What will be granted will be the Mado 2020 Prize, which this year will pay tribute to all the people affected by the pandemic and their families, as well as to all the groups that have been in the front line of battle: health personnel, cleaning , security forces and other institutions, food stores, transport, pharmacies or basic infrastructure.

In addition, online programming will also bring different cultural, children's activities and initiatives such as the talks coordinated by Workingay on intergenerationality or an LGTBI coaching that will analyze how we have emotionally faced the pandemic and what new values and challenges await us from now on.

The International Conference on Human Rights, Madrid Summit, will be transformed this year into a webinar - to talk through the internet in real time - where activists, politicians and leaders of the group from all over the world will debate on the situation generated by Covid-19, the challenge of migration, social inclusion and LGTBIQA + rights.

And finally, MADO Madrid Pride 2020 will be part of Global Pride on June 27, an online event organized by InterPride in which more than 200 Pride of the World organizers will participate and in which the capital will participate with a message from the former president of the Government José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, when it is 15 years since the approval of gay marriage, the performances of Ruth Lorenzo and Agoney and the projection of a promotional video of Madrid and its Pride.

At the international level, the Prime Ministers of Canada, Justin Trudeau; Norway, Emma Solberg; and Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel, the President of Iceland, Guoni Johannesson, American politicians Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi or Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil of India will participate in the online meeting, as well as the artists Olivia Newton John, Pabllo Vittar, Melanie C, Deborah Cox or Leann Rimes. Also Princess Maria of Denmark will make a speech as patron saint of the WorldPride in Copenhagen 2021.
