The two deciduous trees, 80 and 100 years old, stood in an alley outside the suspected man's house in a residential area in Jönköping.

Jönköping Municipality claims that the man killed the trees by drilling holes and then pouring poison into the trees, reports P4 Jönköping. The municipality received an anonymous tip a few years ago and a police investigation was initiated. Police found, among other things, a funnel and a hose that should have been used. Witnesses must also have seen and photographed the man as he poured poison into the trees.

Refuses to have killed the trees

The police did not proceed with their investigation, but Jönköping Municipality now chooses to sue the man for one million kronor. Something that does not belong to the ordinary.

- No, there are usually no spreads in these types of cases. But here we judge that there is enough evidence to be successful and to be able to associate it with a person, says Lars-Åke Svensson, chief legal officer at the municipality of P4 Jönköping.

The man's lawyer tells the radio channel that his client has had nothing to do with the tree's death.
