A young man was tried for "thefts with a weapon and attempted theft with a weapon", from June 17 to 23, by the assize court of miners in Ain. On April 3, 2017, the then 17-year-old pretended to be a client before attacking, armed with a knife, seven prostitutes in less than an hour, in an apartment in Lagnieu, then in vans parked in Chazey-sur-Ain.

As Le Progrès indicates , he demanded money from them every time under the threat of his knife, and stole tickets and phones from most of them. One of the victims, who was trying to defend herself, was stabbed in the thigh.

One of the prostitutes committed suicide, two years after the assault

Helped by criminal identification technicians, the gendarmes found the trace of the aggressor on the run and his two female accomplices after an eighth assault, 11 days later, at the home of a prostitute living in Marseille. He had stabbed her with injuries to her lungs and stomach. The latter victim was hospitalized in psychiatry and committed suicide last October.

A death which was taken into account in the judgment of the accused, sentenced on Tuesday to seven years in prison, while benefiting from the minority excuse which halves the scale of sentences. His two accomplices, aged 18 at the time of the events, were sentenced to 36 and 42 months in prison with probationary suspension.
