The trial of a 41-year-old mother opened this Wednesday before the Assize Court of Loiret for "deprivation of care or food which led to the death of one of her children", reports France Bleu Orléans . The facts date back to 2015. The baby in his forties died at the age of seven and a half months, on December 11 of that year, in Combleux.

When the Smur rescuers arrived on the scene, it was already too late. The baby was already dead on the parental bed. He had lost 37% of his weight in just two months and he only weighed 4.8 kg. The last bottle that was given to him was 48 hours ago.

Verdict on Friday

A psychiatric examination was carried out on the mother. She concluded that "her discernment was impaired due to her state of exhaustion and overcoming psychic". This woman was taking anxiolytics, antidepressants and narcotic drugs. Her other children also suffered from malnutrition and poor hygiene.

After two years in pretrial detention, she appeared free before the Assize Court of Orleans since Wednesday. She risks up to thirty years' imprisonment. The verdict will be released on Friday evening.
