Fire in apartment blocks in Vilhelmina is suspected to have been brought

At 01 night until Wednesday, the rescue service in Vilhelmina was alerted to a multi-family house. Two people passing by had seen a fire near a house and alerted SOS.

- The fire started on the outside of the house, at the entrance for some reason, says Magnus Holmberg, rescue manager Vilhelmina municipality.

When the rescue service arrived at the scene, the fire was largely extinguished by the owner of the house. It was smoky in the stairwell and evacuated residents in the house. One person was taken to hospital by ambulance after inhaling the smoke.

The police blocked off the scene while waiting for technicians and after a crime scene investigation, the police could suspect the fire was on fire.

- There is no natural reason why the fire started. This is due to certain circumstances on the ground and in connection with a crime scene investigation, says David Helgesson of the police.

Helgesson says the police have a good picture of what happened, but there is still no suspect of the fire.

- We are happy to receive tips from the public. Are there people who made observations in connection with the place during the night, says Helgesson.
