June 24, 2020 At planetary level, Covid has infected 9,263,570 people since his appearance (of which 4,630,394 recovered, although a percentage not yet quantified of whom with serious injuries) and killed 477,584. Behind the US (with 2,347,022 cases and 121,228 victims), Brazil is the country most affected with 1,145,906 cases and 52,645 deaths.

Russia (598,878), India (456,183), Great Britain (307,682), Peru (260,810), Chile (250,767), Spain (246,752), Italy (238,833), Iran (209,970) and France (197,804) follow. . Among the countries with the highest number of deaths, however, behind the United States and Brazil there are Great Britain with 43,011 deaths, Italy with 34,675 (of which 18 yesterday) and France with 29,723, of which 57 in the day of yesterday. According to the WHO, contagions are accelerating and there are new peaks, among which a record positive in Texas.

Usa, Fauci: "Critical moment, the spread of the virus is frightening"
Even yesterday in the fifty states there were almost eight hundred new deaths, which brought the total number of lives killed by the disease in North America to 121,228. The new diagnosed infections have been altogether over 32 thousand. In addition to Texas, the states currently most affected are Florida (where infections have increased by 300 percent in the last two weeks) and California, which alone represents the fifth largest economy in the world, and where it has been for a few days use of the mask outside of one's own home made compulsory. Precisely in California, the numbers of the disease are dramatically increasing, bringing the death toll to over 5,500 and that of infection to almost 185 thousand. Overall, the United States is the first country in the world not only for the victims of Covid, but also for the number of total infections (2,347,022, of which 647,548 cases declared out of danger).
The two faces of the US in the time of Covid: while New York, the martyred city of the pandemic, celebrated the return to normal with a concert at the central station, in Texas the republican governor, up to now harsh opponent of the confinement measures, faced as the spread of contagions launched an appeal to the population to leave the house as little as possible. If Covid-19 seems now to be contingent in the northwest of the States, in which it impacted heavily in its first wave on American soil (the state of New York alone has 30,927 victims), in other areas of the country it is on the contrary increasing its own virulence. This is precisely the case in Texas, where the latest bulletin recorded a record of infections: more than five thousand in just 24 hours which brought the total from the onset of the disease to almost 120 thousand. Faced with this fact, Governor Greg Abbott, the architect of the extremely early deconfinition that took place at the beginning of May despite the warnings from the health authorities, could not help but retrace his steps stating that "in the face of the spread of the epidemic there is 'there is no reason at this stage to leave the house without real need. " This is a blow, as well as for Abbott himself, also for the central administration which has always pushed for a rapid normalization of social and economic activities, even if the new coronavirus in the United States is far from eradicated. A few hours ago, the virologist Anthony Fauci, chief immunologist of the presidential staff (despite his frequent conflicts with Trump himself), for whom "the next two weeks will be critical", also intervened on the health situation in the US. Fauci, responding to questions from a committee of the House of Representatives, said he was extremely concerned about the growth of infections in the States and for the umpteenth time he launched an appeal to citizens to implement all the barrier gestures recommended by the authorities. According to the scientist, the increase in recorded cases, contrary to what Trump said, is not due to the excess of the tests carried out but would photograph the spread of the virus among the population. A dynamic, said Fauci, "which really scares me."

Latin America, over 100 thousand dead
In the current phase, the virulence of the epidemic is unleashing at full power in Latin America where in the last 24 hours there has been a further surge in deaths, which in the whole continent have exceeded the threshold of one hundred thousand, to be precise 100.176. Summing up the data from the health authorities of the South American capitals, there are in fact 2,632 deaths ascertained by Covid-19. As can be seen from the data reported above, more than half of the lethal cases are currently counted in Brazil. The progression of infections across the continent, the number of which is now 2,153, is also extremely worrying. 562, with an increase compared to Monday of 62,811 cases. Faced with the explosion of cases on its territory, in the last hours Colombia, where there are 73,760 infections and 2,524 deaths, has decided to extend the lockdown until July 15. From Peru, however, news arrives that more than 200 policemen died of coronavirus and more than 15 thousand were contaminated in an attempt to enforce confinement measures in the country. A tribute of blood that is added to that of the dozens and dozens of doctors and nurses who fell on the field of the fight against the "demon of Hubei" and who still today complain of a chronic shortage of personal protective equipment, although the lanes are still crowded with sick people in serious conditions.

China: 12 new cases, 7 are in Beijing
China reports 12 new cases of coronavirus, nine locally transmitted and three 'imported'. Among the first, seven are registered in Beijing - where 256 infections are confirmed from 11 to 23 June - and two in the nearby province of Hebei. Here, local health authorities report, these are cases related to the new outbreak of infection discovered in recent days in the capital. Two of the three 'imported' cases are reported in Shanghai and the other in Shaanxi province, with the total rising so at 1,888. The official data of the Asian giant speak of 83,430 infections from the beginning of the emergency, with 4,634 deaths and 78,428 declared recovered. Even today, no new cases are reported in the province of Hubei and its Wuhan, where the coronavirus initially occurred.

Tokyo, 55 new cases, highest since early May
The Tokyo metropolitan government has confirmed 55 new cases of coronavirus infections in the capital on Wednesday, marking the highest daily level since early May. The latest developments reinforce the concerns of the health authorities about a possible new peak of infections in Japan, although the metropolis has experienced a descending phase of the cases of the disease until the end of May. The new wave, according to experts, has in fact manifested itself since the lifting of the state of emergency, which took place on the 25th of last month in the remaining 5 prefectures including the capital Tokyo. At the start of the week, the central government lifted restrictions on travel between different regions, authorizing the restoration of most commercial activities. To date, there have been 18,034 coronavirus cases nationwide, with 965 deaths overall. Tokyo Prefecture alone has 5,895 infections.

India, 15,968 new cases in one day
Never so many Covid-19 cases in one day in India. The New Delhi Ministry of Health reported that 15,968 new infections and 465 coronavirus related deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours. The toll of the pandemic in the Asian country thus rises to 14,476 deaths, while the cases are a total of 456,183.
